The Parish Church of St John the Baptist has reopened following the extensive roof repairs. We celebrated on the weekend of Friday 14th to 16th September with a number of events, including our opening evening celebration. Displays can be seen in the church of the work carried out to restore the medieval roof. The church is open during the day, all are welcome.

March 2018

In March various on site meetings are happening with the Church Architect and members of the PCC. The Chimney stack is being dismantled on the rear elevation. The lead is being removed from the main roof, in addition also the oak window frames are being removed from the clerestory windows, in order for these to be repaired. As the lead roof has been removed this allows further investigation in the condition what is underneath that structure.

The structural engineer has been on site to inspect the roof strapping (whether new steel roof supports are also required).

Jan - Feb 2018

Contractors 'Lodge & Sons' start on site to erect the scaffolding internally and externally to allow access to the Hammerbeam Roof.
